I was wide awake at the stern of his old Chris Craft Sportsman as my friend, Christophe, fourth generation angler, and I careened through the Georgian Bay, past Ojibway Island.

Fishing, anyone?

Our quest for walleye was tradition. So was the wind.

Christophe smiled, tossing me a weathered anorak as the mist swirled. His coat, or his father’s. It was special. I smiled back.
