The mantra originated with Pliny the Elder (Gaius Plinius Secundus, AD 23/24–79, Roman scholar, naturalist, author) in honor of Apelles, the Greek painter who never went a day without drawing at least one line.

Through time, writers dusted off the words, claimed them for their own.

Sartre quoted Pliny in Les Mots: “I am still writing. What else to do? Nulla dies sine linea. It's my habit and then it's my job.”

The French Chore Coat (No. J8154). Unique early 20th century French work jacket in 100% cotton dyed twill. Three ample exterior pockets (two at front waist and one at left chest) and one internal pocket. Classic chore coat collar. Rimmed urea buttons at center front and cuffs. Cuffs are adjustable, meant to be rolled up when the task requires. Reinforced seams. We achieved this exceptional color through a garment dye processed followed by a rigorous washing to create a beautifully-faded color that wears well over almost anything. For men or women.
